WELLINGTON MARKETS. Wellington. August 25. George Thomas and Co report produce prices as follows: — Market values of Derwent, and Brown River potatoes are easier ; the extreme prices ruling during the past fortnight have caused an influx of consignments from districts hitherto foreign to the local market, viz., Hawkes Bay, Taranaki, and Nelson ; quotations are now at £3 10s with Oamaru samples unchanged at 15s advance. Oats still maintain their increased rates, 2s 3d to 2s 6d, according to sample. Oatmeal, £10 to £10 ss. Fowls' wheat of good whole description is scarce, and stocks cannot now be replaced at old prices ; we quote 2s 9d to 2s lOd, and 2s 6d for broken grain. The agitation in milling wheat has not affected flour, but there is every probability of a 10s per ton rise taking place at any moment. Bran £3 10s ; pollard, £4; feed barley, 2s 8d to 2s 9d ; pearl ditto, 20s ; maize, 3s 7d to 38 8d ; beans, 3s 4d ; peas, feed, 3s 3d per bushel; split peas, 16s 6d per cwt ; turnips, 2s ; carrots, 2s ; onions £5 10s to £7 ; rye grass seed, 3s 6d ; Italian do, 3s ; cocksfoot, 3£d per lb ; factory cure bacon and hams, 7d ; cheese, large size, 4£d ; loaves, 4£d ; honey, 4d to 5d in tins ; lard in bladders sd ; fresh butter is now becoming plentiful, and we do not predict present values (Is 3d) holding good next week ; eggs have come down quietly, and now stand at 8d per dozen, with a prospective fall of a further -fed per dozen — they will not recede further; Business in fruit of late has been somewhat meagre, and dealers show no disposition toward going in largely for any descriptions. Hobart apples are not commanding prices to warrant consignments, and Sydney fruits are being moved off at prices which are unsatisfactory, to shippers. Oue Tailoring the " talk of the town.' Why?
