FEILDING SPECIAL SETTLEMENT BLOCK.
On Monday, the 13th instant, about i moon, one of the settlers in the Feild- j ing Special Settlement Block — Mr ' Charles Potts—cut his right thigh * -severely with an axe, causing a gash ' about live inches long. He was titaudiug on a branch waiting for a , tree to fall, when suddenly the branch fcroke, and iv endeavoring to throw t the axe from him, the handle stuck in * the ground, and he fell on the blade. ' As it was too far to go for a doctor, ' ■and the river being flooded, Mr Chas. j Miller, another settler, cleverly stitched ' up the wound (with some fine cotton thread), which appears now to be ( healing rapidly. Mr Potts will be c incapacitated for work for several t weeks. <i I heard of another accident, which t happeued to Mr Rose, a settler in the \ Wanganui Block. He was coming ¥ •out of the Block when he was kicked r by a horse, and -rendered insensible ' __ • c Tor some time.
