The ordinary monthly meeting oi the above was held cm Saturday last Present-r Messrs Taylor (Chairman) Lucas, Hay.thorue, and Williamson. The minutes ojE the previous ordin ary meeting were read and confirmed .. •: CORBESPONOEKCE. From the Commissioner of Crowt Lands, asking for authority frou Sandon Settlement Association to expend their thirds. From B. Booking and C. Sherlock re refund of cost of felling roadline ii Palmerston Small Earm Block. From Strettoa and Co. and R. Cornish, asking for extension of time for completion of their contracts. From Chairman .Cheltenham School Committee, asking the. Board, to erect a foot-bridge over the Eiwitea stream on Cheltenham Cross road, to enable children to attend . school from the sawmill, . > . From Chief Surveyor, re deviation of Taylor's road. ' From Treasury, notifying payment of balance of subsidy. From same, acknowledging receipt of £49 4s, being half year's interest on loan. From same, re redemption of debenture. ... , From \v^ill^Unson Bros., applying for a slaughter license. Resolved, That Messrs Sherlock and Booking's applications be held over until their cases are substantiated. Eesolved, That an extension of time for one month be granted to Messrs Cornish and Stretton and Co. Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded by Mr Lucas, That a slaughter license be granted Messrs Williamson Bros. — Carried* Proposed by Mr Taylor, seconded hy Mr Williamson, That the cost of deviation of Cheltenham Cross road, together with bhare of overdraft, on road and bridges account and other items amounting to £96 7s 4d, be credited to the Makino ward account, and debited pro^rata to the Oroua, iQmbolton,. and :Waituna wards' account. — Carried. , . . The Clerk was instructed to inform the Cheltenham . School Committee that the Board had no funds at present for the; erection of a foot-bridge ■over the Xi fritea. Proposed, by Mr Lucas, seconded by Mr Williamson, That the Clerk write to the Manchester Board asking if they will bear half the cost of making the road between Pohangina and Manchester Block, as the road is of «qual benefit to both. — Carried. The Engineer reported that the temporary span of bridge across the j JKiwitea stream at upper end of Mackay's road was impassable, and asked ior instructions. No. 3 contract Pollock's road— Bo^en and Co., £35 2s (accepted). The ( tenders' for 1 bridge on Taonui road were all too high.
