[from our correspondent.] .„•' The A wahuri. School Committee met on Saturday last. Preseafc— Messrs luaas (chairman), Bepfnett,. Stewart, ISiends, iud Reid. Correspondence read, as follows : — Letter from Mr Knight, complaining of children losing their dinners at school. Voting paper from the Education Board, Wanganui, submitting the names of Messrs Beckett, Hutchison} Brett, Mayor, and Stewart, as candidates to fill extraordinary vacancy. Circulars from Messrs Beckett and Hutchibon, soliciting the vote of the ■Committee. Memo from W. H. Vereker-Biudon stating that the Awahuri School will be examined on the 28th inst. Monthly report endiug August 10, 1888, was read as follows : — Scholars left— Boys, 1 ; girls, 1 ; total, 2. Scholars entered— Boys, 0 ; girls, 3 ; total, S. Roll number— Boys, 38; girls, 82 ; total, 70. Average attendance -Boys/ 20-97 ; girls,. l« o ; total, -39-47. -*-«i- •■-■■*'* '■'" "'• It was moved by Mr Reid, seconded *>y Mr Stewart, That some arrangement be made so tbtat children who iiave to bring their dinners to school, be enabled to hang them up inside the achool-rrooin.— Carried. Moved by Mr Bennett, seconded by Mr Reid;; That this Committee give *heir vote to Mr Beckett.— Carried. This was all the business. >; ..
