The Fiji Times contains details of the murder of Palmer Bevan, a Government^agent on board labor a schooner, while returning laborers to Solomon Islands. He and a native member of the crew were attacked and brained with tomahawks. The outrage is in retaliation for a post mortem being held on a laborer who died in Suva Hospital. Mr and Mrs Alex. Gray, of Rarawai Mill, were drowned on 16th July while duck shooting. Gray had eyidently gone to recover a duck, and got out of his depth. His wife being a good swim mer went to his assistance, but was. dragged down. The bodies were found clasped together next day. Thompson, accountant to the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. of Gewa, committed suicide by shooting. The sugar crushing has commenced and the crop is over the average.
