In one of these a snr-face-man was struck on- the head with a falling stone, and seriously injured. In view of this.it was not deemed prudnei: to bring the . train further than Waitati. A train was then despatched from Dundin with a doctor to attend the injured man. Gbbymovth, August 6. At the cattle sale to-day 105 head were offered. Ship bullocks, £8 9» ; top price. £9 15s to £10 15s. Prime beef is quoted at 22s 6d per 1001 b; medium to inferior, 2 ls. Sheep— 4Bo offered. Canterbury, 12s 9d ; Wanganui, 13s 6d and 14s 6d ; quoted 2§d per Ib. Pigs, extra fat, £2 17h 6d." ,
