THE LATE SOCIAL GATHERING.
to the editor of the star. Sir,— Your readers have been much amused at the passage of arms between "Ishmael" and "A Visitor," but I, for one, think it would have been more wise if they took a lesson from the custom of the press in amateur entertainments, by " being to their efforts very, and to their faults a little blind." As" regards Norah, both your correspondents assume a dictatorial right of criticism. Now even if it was the correct thing to bandy a joung lady's name about in such a public and turbulent manner, the audience showed pretty plainly that they did not consider it " Ishmael's" Norah, nor " A Visitor's" Norah, but everybody's Norah ; so there need have been no jealousy about it. — I am, &c, Your Norah.
