Prospecting the Ruahine

Mr Woods, chief of the prospecting party now engaged on the liuahiue Range, came down on Saturday. He states that two of the party are working on a tunnel in the Raparapawai Valley and the other two prospectors are working in the Oruakeretaki. Mr Woods informs us that he obtained a bead of gold on Friday from a piece of quartz from the Oruakeretaki by blowpipe reduction. He thinks the country is essentially at silver-bearing country aud hopes yet to find payable silver deposits. — Woodville Examiner.
