A lengthy debate took place in the House of Assembly last night on the alleged negligence of the Government in delaying the despatch of life- saving appliances to the scene of the wreck of the ship Star of Greece. The Government were exonerated from any blame, but a Select Committee was appointed to in* vestifc&te the action of the Marine Board in the matter. It addition to those previously men* tioned as being drowned in the Star of Greece disaster, it is known that three others have perished, and the police believe they include two persons wanted on a charge of burlgary committed at Port Adelaide. The Legislative Council have rejected the Payment of Members Bill. The railway returns show that the average return upon oaptital for tbe past , 10 years has been 4.13 per cent.
