Mariposa from 'Frisco, with English mails of the 16th tilt., for Auckland, on the Ist inst. — one day late. The s.t. Zealandia, with Colonial mails of the 18th ult., arrived at 'Frisco, from Auckland, on Bth inst. — contract date. Chbistchtjhch, July 18. At a special meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club this afternoon, it was resolved to embody in the rules of the Club the regulations recently formed by the Committee for the control of the totalisator. Wkstpobt, July 18. Mary Ann Cailaghan, a married woman, bung herself with a handkerchief from a branch of a tree at Denniston this morning.
