A manganese- reef 12 feet wide has been discovered in the Waitakerei ranges, Auckland. A Losing Joke.— A prominent physic* ian of Pittsburg said jokingly to a lady patient who was complaining of her continued ill-bealth, and of his inability to cure her, "Try Dr Soule'i American Hop BitteraJ" The lady took it in ear* nest, and used the Bittere, from which she obtained permanent health. She now laughs at the doctor for his joke, but he not so well pleased with it, as it cost Jiim a food patwnt.— Harrusburg Patriot.
