Wreck of the Star of Greece

By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright. (per united press association.) Adelaide, July 14. The after part of the ship Star of Greece disappeared early this morning, and many of the crew (including the captain) were drowned; several were crushed to death by the wreckage. Six men jumped overboard together, but their efforts to reach the shore were unsuccessful, and all perished. The beach was strewn with wreckage, and many of the bodies have been seen washing about. The total number of persous on board was 27 (including two passengers), and of these the first and third officers, four men, and four apprentices have been saved, and all the others were drowned. The chief officer expresses the opinion that probably all would have been saved had they stuck to the remnants of the vessel. The South British Insurance Company have a line of £2000 on the vessel, which was loaded with wheat. The names of those drowned are unknown. July 15. One of the crew of the wrecked ship Star of Greece declares that Captain Harrower was drunk at the time of the accident. The chief officer, howover, denies this, and says the captain •was perfectly sober. The harbor authorities are severely blamed for their dilatoriness in despatching the rocket apparatus to the scene of the disaster. July 16. The following are the names of those who were drowned in the wreck of the &iar of Greece : — Harrower, capt;.iu ; Wuugh, second mate ; Parker, Donnell, Blackham, Carter, Carloin, Cadsf-n, Gattis, Demet, Cook, Organ, Irvine, Miles, Or^chinidt, Blair, and Muir, members of Ihe urew.
