Feilding Borough Council
The usual monthly meeting of the above was held ou Thursday last. Present— The Mayor (Mr S. Goodbehere), Crs Haybittle, Lethbridge, P. Thomson, Worsfold, Chamberlain, J. C. Thompson, aud Fowles. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE . From the Public Hall Company, asking for a reduction of rates charged on the Hall destroyed by fire in March last. The reports of the Public Works Committee for £24 4s Bd, and the Finance Commit; cc for £19 13s 7d, were read and adopted. A report was read from the Nightman, giving names of persons who had decliued to comply with the Borough regulations with regard to nightsoil. engineer's keport. I beg to inform you that the metal in Manchester street and Kimbolton road is worn nearly through in a number of places, to the formation. I would recommend that 160 cubic yards of gravel be put on the Kimbolton roid, aud about 100 cubic yards on Manchester street. There are also a few bad places in Grey street, Beattie street, aud the street on the north side of the railway line. I would recommend that from 10 to 15 loads be put on each street. Charles Bray, Engineer. Proposed by Cr Lethbridge, seconded by Cr Chamberlain, That the Engineer's Report be referred to the Public Works Committee with power to act. — Carried. A memo was placed on the table as an addition to the report of the Library Committee to the effect that in the event of the Council transferring the management of the Library and Beading Room to a committee chosen from the public, the following have consented to act as such committee: — Messrs J. H. Stevens, Gh Kirton, P. Thompson, S. Daw, C. Hosking, Mrs Christopher Brown, Miss E. M. Goodbehere. Proposed by The Mayor, seconded "by Cr Haybittle, That the thanks of this Council be conveyed to the Secretary of the Feilding Football Club for their donation (£1) to.yards the Library expenses. — Carried. Proposed by Cr J. <J. Thompson, seconded by Cr Haybittle, That the report of the Library Committee be adopted; that an outside committee be formed by the Library Committee, aud that the names recommended for such outside committee, with power to add to their number, be accepted. — Carried. The tender of W. Watts for £21 7s was the only one for repairs to the Derby street bridge, and on the motion of Cr Worsfoid, seconded by Cr Lethbridge, the tender was accepted. Cr Haybittle thought the Council •should concentrate their funds towards hie greater work of the Kiwitea bridge. Tee Council then adjourned.
