Volunteers

A first class Militia reserve is being formed in Melbourne.

As there will be a few vacancies for eligible young men in the Manchester Rifles next month (July), intending recruits are requested to send in their names at once giving age, height, occupation, and address. The corps will parade for inspection on Friday next. It will be a relief to many to know that the bill dealing with the military, naval, and volunteer land claims, and providing for a new commission, has come back from the Waste Lands Oommittee with practically no alteration. The Committee recommend that the Bill be allowed to proceed, and that provision be inserted in the Bill making certificates transferable by endorsement.
