By Electric Telegraph.— Copyright. [per united press association.! Sydney, May 26. A shocking outrage was committed, in one of the cells of the Central Police Station last night. A prisoner named Hewitt made an attempt to commit an unnatural offence upon another man named Park. The latter . was this morning discovered horribly mutilated, portions of flesh and blood bespattering the cell. A valuable discovery of gold has been made twenty-eight miles from Broken Hill. The stone is said to be very rich, and only second to that found at Broken Hill. A rush has set in. Wheat. — Off coast cargoes and ship ment ex warehouse are unchanged, and prices for New Zealand long berried are unaltered, and quoted at 34s to 34s 6d ; New Zealand hemp, £28 15s to £29. Brisbane, May 27. The Government have decided to restrict immigration to single girls.
