(PEB UNITED PR FBS ASSOCIATION ) Hokitika, May 25. A fatal accident happened yesterday after aoon to John Foster, a carter plying between here and Ross. The deceased leaves a wife and ten children. Blenhkim, May 25. A discovery of gold is reported about midway between Blenheim and Picton, in a gully leading from the Mahakipawa to Speed's Valley. The gold is nuggety and of splendid quality. Winter Oats — Marlborough, 1 ; Armourer, 2 ; Camomile, 3. Hack Steeplechase — Butcher Boy, 1, . Auckland, May 25. One thousand five hundred children were fed by the Salvation Army yester* day afternoon. At the Temperance Conference yester* day a paper was read by Sir William Fox in favour of prohibition, another by Mr D. Goldie, M H* B , against prohi^ i bifcion, and one in favor of restriction was read by Mr F. G- Ewington*
