By Electric Telegraph. — Copyright. [per united press association. l Sydney, May 24. At the Sydney Turf Club's Birthday Meeting to day Mitrailleuse and Cinde* relia ran unplaced m the Royal Stakes. In the Legislative Assembly the motion of censure on the Government was negatived by 41 to 5. The Presbyterian Assembly have for* warded a protest to the Government on { the treatment of the Chinese. Mr Gillies, the Premier, in his reply, warmly resents any interference on the part of the Assembly. The Assembly forwarded a reply that they had a perfect right to express opinions on public questions. Adelaide, May 23. A Bill will be introduced in Parliament legalising the imposition of a Poll" tax on Chinese arriving in the Northern Territory.
