School Committee
We hope to see a good attendance of householders at the meeting to be held this evening in the school-house. We hare already animadverted vigorously on the want of interest exhibited lately on this most important matter, and if our efforts to excite a desire among parents to assist, if only indirectly, in the education of their children, are not crowned with success on this occasion, we shall not be disheartened, but will continue to make vehement protests against those who are so lax in the fulfilment of what should be looked upon a 8 a meg?; sacred duty. The election of a School Committee consisting of able and intelligent men will have, in the present state of affairs, a most beneficial influence on the welfare of the school, v and those to whom are entrusted the task of teaching the scholars. Experience of other places has shown that careless committees make careless teachers, and careless teachers make indifferent and idle scholars.
