There was beautiful weather, the attendance being about 3500. The Governor and his party were present. Wellington's first innings dosed ■ for 86, and they had to follow on. In their second innings they played with more confidence, and when the last wicket fell the score stood at 222. Werry played a fine innings for 53 (not out), though he gare one chance which Preston caught, and there is some doubt as to whether the umpire's decision was correct in giving not out: He completely mastered the bowling, and hit all over the field. Motely played a, steady innings for 21, as did Morice for a similar number. . Smith, for the visitors, was the most successful bowler, 13 wickets, falling to him for 56 runs, Lohmann coming next with 5 for 70. The Englishmen had 101 runs to get to win, and Bhortly after five o'clock commenced their innings, and had lost two wickets for 21, when, a* the light was bad, it whs decided to draw stumps. The Englishmen left for Ofcrittoburob-yea-t»W»y starring. ;
