The offer of Mr Wilson for the Te Aroha mines was renewed, when an offer to sell the property for L 30.000 was made. This Mr Wilson declined, and he was about to proceed to Australia by steamer. Before the departure of the vessel an agreement* for the disposal of the Com* pany's interests was arrived at. Under this the company are fn receive L 25.000 cash for four fifths of their property.
New Plymouth, March 23.
Yesterday a settler's child near Stratford fell ont of its cradle into a bucket of water and was drowned. The child was 7 months old, and the mother not being m the house at the time was not aware of the accident till she saw the child lying, dead in the bucket.
Mastebton, March 23.
A narse named Mrs Hewitt, who pro* ceeded on Monday to Mangahoe, was found this morning drowned in the river. She bad to cross to reach the settlement. She had been missing since Monday. It is supposed the fresh in the river carried her away *' ' -"'. . .
