The departmental report, has been made public with reference to the disease among sheep, recently reported from Southern Queensland district and New South Wales. The report states that the mange is contagious, and very dim* { cult to eradicate. Mklboubkb, This Day. The woolen manufacturers are agitating for increased duties on imported goods. Twelve hundred and fifty-six students have entered thr Working Men's College. The gold yield for the year is estimated at 411,000 ozs, beiDg 70,000 ozs above the yield for the year ending 31st December, 1887. Pehth, W.A., This Day. The Legislative Council is considering the despatch of the Secretary of State for the Colonies on the subject of granting responsible Government to Western Australia. It is understood the House will reject the proposal submitted by the English Government and demand a new constitualion without limit or restriction. Wellington, This Day. A serious accident happened on the tramway line this morning. A car stopped near New town school to let a lady teacher out, when a boy named Walters aged ten years, in attempting to get out of the front door, stumbled and fell beneath the car. When the car stopped the wheel was found resting on the hoy's body He sustained severe injuries and was removed to the hospital, but is not expected to recover.
