His Worship the Mayor has forwarded us the following letter for publication := — Wellington, Bth March, 1887. Sir, — I am directed to inform you that the petition signed by yourself and other residents of the Feilding district, on behalf of Charles Wildbore, now undergoing a sentence of nine months imprisonment for assault, has i been duly submitted to His Excellency the Governor, who can Bee no sufficii ent. grounds to justify his complying with the prayer thereof.
