Messrs Vaile and Douglas, land agents, report having sold Sir George Grey's Island of Kawau to a Victorian capitalist,|the price paid being£l2,ooo. the purchaser intends to make the Island his home, and it is said that Sir George Grey will visit England. Dunedin, Febuary 28. A snccessful Crown Land sale was held to»day. Sections in the township of Kelso, upset L 4. went to prices vary* ing from L 9 to L2l. Small grazing runs were nearly all sold at an advance on the upset price. Pastoral leases sold well — one of the Hammock runs, with the upset at L4OO. realising L 790. and one at Menthorne L 110 0; one at Lander, with an upset of L 250, fetched L 355, and one at Kingston, upset LIOO, L 250,
