(PBB UNITED PRFBS ASSOCIATION ) Auckland, February 23. The New Zealand Timber Co. held their annual meeting to-day. The balance-sheet sheet showed a profit of £437 5s which will be carried to account of accrued piofits invested in the busi* ness. Sir George Grey has expressed his intention of donating a further uumber of pictures to the Auckland Art Gallery. T. M. Haultain tbe new clerk of the Police Court, vice Cunningham retired, made his apperance at the Court this morning. He was congratulated by the Bench and Bar. Wellington, Febuary 24. Mr Nathaniel Isaacs, formerly an auctioneer here, but latterly proprietor of the Duke of Edinburgh Hotel, died this morning, after a brief illness. He had been suffering from typhoid fever and , pleurisy. It is understood that on and after the Ist April next the experiment is to be ! tried of making the various Post Offices ' , throughout the colony, the medium of the cashing of Government cheques for • salaries, contingencies. _cc. connected with Government service.
