RANGITIKEI RACES. ! The first day's races of the Rangitikei Racing Club's meeting took place yesterday, and being favored with a fine day, there was a large attendance of spectators. During the Hack Hurdle Race Mr Bell's horse Eucylptus fell at the last hurdle and broke his leg, and had to be destroyed. The following is a summary of the events : Handicap Hurdles. — Waitangi, 1 ; Reform, 2 ; Allegro, 3. Only these three started, and was won easily. Dividend, £2 3s. Hack Flat Race. — Sincerity, 1 ; Promotion, 2 ; Rere, 3. Seven started. Dividend, £13 12s. Rangitikei Handicap, of 200 soys. — Tongariro, 1 ; Strenuous, 2 ; The Shah, 3. Laurel, The Gem, Germaine, Rimu, Ruapehu, and Armourer also ran. Tongariro led all the way, and won by a length. Dividend, £5 13s. Maiden. — Voltigeur, 1 ; Wanda, 2 ; Armadillo, 3. Dividend, £2 Is. Auckland January 1. Auckland Cup, of 750 soys, added to a sweep of 10 soys each ; two and a quarter miles. — Maior George's Nelson, 9st 1 21 b (Brown), I;Mr J. Lenuard's Clogs, 7st 81 b (Taylor), 2 ; Mr G. G. Stead's Sextant, 7st 12lb (Clifford), 3. Victoria, Friendship, Cannon, and Leorina also ran. Nelson won easily. Time, 4 ruin. 6£ sees.
