Serious Accident

Yesterday when the 12.37 p.m. train from Wellington was passing over Caraden street crossing, the cowcatcher of the engine struck a child named Frederick Kliuk, a son of Mr F. Klink, a road contractor, well known in Feilding. When the hoy was picked up by Mr Owen and MrTreweek, who witnessed the accident, and carried by them into the house of the parents, it was at once seen serious injuries had been inflicted and Dr Johnston was sent for. On his arrival he determined that additional surgical assistance was needed and therefore called in Dr Monckton. It was found the skull was badly fractured, so much indeed that a portion of the brain was protruding. Beyond this the other injuries are confined to a few bruises of no great consequence. All that surgical skill could accomplish has been done, but the recovery of the pool" lad is more than doubtful.
