—+. HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. I FEB TOUTED PBKBB ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, November 4. The following Bills were introduced and read a first time :— Mr G. F. Rich* ardson — A Bill to amend the Land Act, 1885*; Mr Mitchelson— a Bill to make better provision for the construction, maintenance, and management of her Majesty's railways in New Zealand. An Imprest Supply (L 175.000 consolidated fund, L 75.000 public works fund) was introduced, and passed through a{l its stages. The Hon. Mr Mitehelson explained that he had not stated a few days ago, as reported* that railway employes would be granted compensation in cases of sickness. What ho bad said iras exactly the opposite. - A lengthy disoussion followed on the Midland Railway question, which was finally adjourned until Tuesday.
