* — : YESTERDAY. Probate and Administration was granted in the case of George Charles Anyqn, Mr Sandilands appearing for his son. In regard to the winding up of the following Companies : — Manawatu Steam Company Co, (Limited), and Manawatu Co-operative Steam Shipping Co (Limited), Mr J. H. Hankins who appeared for the Liquidators in both companies, asked that the cases stand adjourned till later on in the sittings. Granted. IN BANKRUPTCY. Be Thomas W. Downes. Mr Eaam appeared for Mr Mahson and other creditors,- Col. Gorton for Mr B.Nathan and Mr Prior for debtor. In answer to Col. Gorton debtor said he lived in a house the property of D. Nathan at Bulls; had not paid any rent since 1884; gave a P.N. for £63 10s for rent ; had never paid any grocers', butchers', or bakers*, bills for the last three years ; kept a servant part of that time at 8s a week, and owed her wages ; had an hotel bill at Belye'a, Feilding, for drinks and billiards. By Mr Prior: Had to keep a girl on account of the delicate state of hit wife's health ; had reasonable expec . tation of meeting the bill for rent at time he gave it. By Col. Gorton : Piled in 1878 ; his daughter is aged 7, son 8, and adopted girl 11 ; none of whom are af the least assistance to his wife. Public examination declared closed. His Honer would not name the time for debtor's discharge until certain claims had been settled. John Signal was next examined. Mr Prior appeared for bankrupt and Col. Gorton for Smith and Broadbent. The Deputy Assignee said the creditors were annoyed because the expense of filing, and defendent's furniture, would have paid 10s in the £, His Honor considered it was the creditors' fault for allowing a working man to get into debt when he no means of paying. Examination held over till next sitting. _
