Auckland, September 26. The dead body of a newly-born male child was found to-day in a paddock bebind the Thistle Ho' el. It is believed to hare been strangled, but a medical report has not been made. There is no clue to the mother except an old dress in which the body was wrapped. Chhistchubch, September 26.
A fifty-mile bicycle race from Christchurch to Leeston and back, came off today. Nine started and the race was won by Mr B. Bargrove, of the Pioneer Club, who started from scratch, and did the fifty miles in 3 hours 35 minutes, lowering the record by eight minutes.
New Plymouth, Sept. 26. A man named William Bailey, who has been residing with bis brother near Oakura, has been missing since 18th September. The man has been in the habit of wandering, still inquiries are being made as to his whereabouts. He is said hot to be right in his head.
