A fund is being raised here for the survivors of the ship Derry Castle, and to recoup the captain and 'crew of the schooner Awaroa, which rescued them from the Auckland Islands, for loss of time.

Launcbston, September 25. An outbreak of smallpox has occurred here. Nine cases have already been reported, and one death has resulted.

Sydney, September 26. Beach and Hanlan have signed articles of agreement to row for £500 a-side and the Muir whisky trophy, valued at 200 guineas. The date on which the match, is to take place has not been fixed.
