Primitive Methodist Tea Meeting
— _ The tea meeting in connection with the opening of services in the Makino School on Sunday afternoons, by the Primitive Methodists, came off last evening, proving more successful than its warmest promoters anticipated. Considerably over one hundred sat down to a really first class spread, generously/provided by some of the principal residents in the district. The guests were ably attended to by Mesdames Adams, Bird, and Green, assisted by the Misses Cummerfield, Green, Adams, and other young ladies. The after meeting commenced at half past seven, Mr George Adams taking the chair. Several interesting addresses were delivered by Messrs Thompson, Oliver, Outran, the Chairman, and the Rev. J. Olphert, between which the choir, composed of local and Feildihg singers, gave some beautiful selections from the great Tea Meeting Song Book, Sankey's Songs and Solos. Mrs Kichardsonand Miss Olphert gave every satisfaction at the harmonium brought from the Feilding chapel. The last named lady gave a beautiful recitation in good style, called "The Legend of the For- j get-me-not." Mr Daw's van under the able command of Mr C. Wickham conveyed a number of friends from town, who seemed to enjoy their drive in the brilliant moonlight exceedingly. In con- j clnsiou we may eafely say, every on© present, were more than pleased with the first tea meeting ever given in the dis- ; trict. j
