The Russians are manifesting great activity in Central Asia, and the Russian press is urging that the present affords a good opportunity for a further advance toward India, and with that end in view, suggests the immediate occupation of Herat. Anxiety is felt that a rebellion in Afghanistan is imminent; also that an attack will be made by Turkestan on Herat. The whole country is believed to be in a disturbed state. Cxicvtrx, April 10. The British Representative at Kabul, who has been on a visit to this city, for the purpose of interviewing the Viceroy, is now returning to his post at Kabul, owing to the disordered slat* of Afghanistan. Mews from Afghanistan reports that the rebellion in that country is spread* ing.
