The Easter Encampment
[van united pbess association.! New Plymocth, April 8. The Volunteers for the Easter Encampment have been arriving all day. The Go-Ahead arrived with the Blenheim contingent, the Stella this afternoon with the Greymouth, Westland, and Kumara Eifles, and the Moa to. night with the Wegtport Eifles. The Wellington men, delayed, did not arrive till 3 p.m. The weather is fine and the men are in the best of spirits. The Volunteers speak highly of the ground selected, being suitable for all tactics. Five men are in the hospital, Corporal Dewa, Napier Rifles, suffer* ing from a fracture of the ribs, caifsed by being crushed getting inout of the train near the Encampment. Owing to the foresight of the medical staff, everything deemed necessary for the treatment of the patients is at hand in the camp. While the F Battery Napier Artillery were getting two six pound guns off the trucks at the railway station this morning an accident happened to Trumpeter Fox. The gun carriage tilted over, one of the shafts striking him a heavy blow, causing coutusiou of the spine. He was taken to the New Plymouth Hos- ■ pital. It is not a dangerous hurt. A large number of men are on leave in town to-night. Altogether conic 3000 men are on the ground. To-day has been devoted to drill.
