Wellington - Manawatu Railway

(PEB UNITED FRRSS ASSOCIATION.) Wellington. April 6. The annual meeting of the WellingtonManawatu Bailway Company was held to-day. The Chairman said the result showed a net interest of £5 3s 6d per cent, on the total cost of the railway. Its equipment, &c, and maintenance of a portion of the line only was charged to construction, m accordance with the recognised rules, but if it were all charged to construction it would leave a profit of 4.55 per cent. The report was adopted. It was decided that Mr Higgiasoa, Engineer to the company in constructing the line, be allowed to select without payment land equal iv value to six months of his former salary, or in lieu of that, if the company think fit, that cash of an equal amount be given to him as a bonus. A special meeting was then held, when the resolution passed at a former meeting for an increase of capital, was confirmed.
