The Feilding Star SATURDAY, FEB. 26, 1887. The Salvage Corps

The meeting to be held in the Forester's Hall on Monday night is one which every householder in the Borough should attend. The safety of his goods and chattels, and even the lives of his wife and children, may depend on the practical as well as the moral support each individual gives to the movement. The officers, who will be elected at the meeting, will, most likely, be able to give all necessary information as to the nature of the duties and responsibilities imposed by membership. We believe the latter are easy of performance, requiring but a moderate amount of drill instruction to make each one thoroughly acquainted with them when the occasion arises to make it necessary for the combined corps to act. A very small sacrifice of personal convenience will go far to make each member thoroughly competent. An examination of the list of names already subscribed to the roll assures us that the right class of men have already come forward, and we have every confidence that in their hands the corps will not only be a useful one, but a credit to its members and the Borough. We congratulate the promoters on their success so far, and hope the work yet to be dove will be met and overcome with the same energy and good fortune.
