COMMERCIAL.
Messrs Freeman K. Jackson and Co. report : — " We had no prime cattle at the Johnsonville yards on Wednesday. Medium bullocks sold at last sale's values. Cows were competed for, and sold at a slight advance. A line of large-framed store bullocks were disposed of at quotations. Sheep were in limited numbers, with no improvement in prices. The yards were gutted with lambs, which sold under rates of those at last sale. Pigs were good and well fatted. The following are the prices : — Cattle — The best line brought from £5 7s 6d to £6 12s 6d, average £5 18s, the average for the other lots being £5 14s 6d, and £5 10s 9d ; forward store bullocks, £4 9s 6d ; cows, £4 to £5, average £4 12s. Sheep— Wethers, 8s ; ewes, 6s to 7s 8d ; lambs (shorn), 5s 3d to 5s 6d ; in wool, 5s 9d ; merino ewes and wethers, 4s lid. Pigs— Bacon pigs, averaging 160lbs, 25s to 31s ; store pigs, 10s 6d ; porkers, 15s 6d."
