A Minister in Trouble
I [PER UNITED PBEBS ASSOCIATION.! Wellington, February 9. A meeting of the creditors of the Rev J. C. Dodwell was held to-day. From the bankrupt's statement it appeared in March 1884 Dodwell was appointed to the parochial charge of the district of Bulls, At that time his family were in Melbourne, and the consequence was he had to keep two homes. Subsequently his wife came over from Melbourne and he incurred beavy liabilities in purchasing furniture, paying passages, &c. Dodwell was just recovering himself when the Bishop summarily dismissed him without assigning any reason; Law proceedings were instituted against the Bishop, and it was decided the Bishop had a perfect right to dismiss a clergyman without assigning anj reason for so doing. To this cause he attributed his; failure. The bankrupt is at present holding the position of 3rd master of the Newton school, at a salary of £125 a year. One creditor moved that as debtor had incurred debts in Wellington without any hope of paying them his discharge be opposed. The motion was carried by the value of debts,
