Manchester Rifles

The Manchester Rifles paraded for Government inspection last night. There was a full attendance, but several names were marked dowu for fines. Lieut Pieasants instructed the men in the sword-bayonet exercises for about an hour. They were then marched into the paddock behind the offices where Lieut-Col. Stapp took charge of the company. He put them through several battalion movements, after which they were drilled in four deep attack formation The corps was then marched to the barracks where a meeting was held and the following were elected as members of the council for the current year— Sergts Bilderbeck and Evans, Corporal Gosling, Vol. Chamberlain and • ac men were n dismissed. The next parade^ will be on Friday, the 25th inst., at 7.30 p.m.
