lii the Hungarian Diet last night M. Tiza, Premier, stated that he still hoped that peace would be preserved. The warlike preparations, he stated, were simply precautionary.
In the Austrian Council yesterday, Count Kaluoky, Minister of Foreign Affairs, stated that the relations between Austria and Russia were assuming a more friendly character.
Londox, February 1. Increased tension is being manifested in the relations being France and Germany.
Public feeling continues in a very excited and unsettled state owing to rumors of war which are in circulation on the Continent. It is believed that the outbreak of hostilities between France and Germany is imminent.
A partial panic occurred on the. London Stock Exchange yesterday, caused by rumors persistently circuleted that war between Germany and France was about to be declared. One rumor was that troops, both German and French, were being massed on the frontier.
Austria and Russia are arming vigorously, and great military preparations are proceeding thoughout Europe.
