Small-pox in Australia

The Board of Health report * hat of the Preussen's passengers in quarantine there are 40 pronounced cases of small-pox, two being of a dangerous character, also 38 suspected cases. One of the engineers of the Preussen is missing. He is believed to have escaped when the vessel was at Melbourne. ! MeT/BOltrne. January 3. The small-pox at the quarantine station is increasing. Altogether 19 cases have occurred among the steerage passengers. The other classes are free, rigid isolation heiug enforced Much disquiet has been occasioned owing to the disappearance of one of the engineers of the Preussen, who escaped when the vessel reached Melbourne, and cannot be traced.
