A very serious fire took place in Rundlestreet on Thursday night, by which Messrs Castles and Co.'s drapery establishment, and Messrs Cunning* han and Co's hardware depot were destroyed, the entire premisea being gutted. The damage is estimated at L 350.000. December 27. A fireman perished in the flames at the late dre, Another fireman has died from injuries received. Mr Murray, the Victorian geologist, has visited tue Teetulpa goldfields, and has given a favorable report as to their value and permanency. Returns from Teetulpa continue satisfactory. Melbourne, December 24. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company held its usual weekly sale yesterday, when 3384 bales were offered, and 2686 sold, making a total of 2906 bales disposed of durmg the week. The biddings have been spirited throughout. Greasy realised to 11 _d, scoured to 16d, and washed fleece to 14fd. Sydney, December 24. Efforts are being made to obtain the reprieve of the prinoners who have been stmten-ed to death in connection with the Mount Rennie outrage. New Zealand wheat has declined to 3s 9d, and >ew Zealand oats to 2s Maize remains at 3s 6d ; sugar, L 25.
