Last Night's Concert
The Town Hall was densely packed in the front seats, while the back were well filled. The performance was opened with an Instrumental piece by Her Norberg on the violin, accompanied by Miss Norberg, which won applause. Miss Atkins sang "Ora pro Nobis," " Won by a Rose," and "Oh Bid you &c," splendidly and brought down the house. Mrs Macarthur sang " Waiting," and " Should he upbr.iid" with great taste and feeling. Miss Bray sang "Surely" in charming style. Mr Gilmer sang a scotch song and " The Stirrup Cup" very well indeed. Mr Hartgill sang " Jack's Reward," and " Kissing goes by favor." This gentleman is now an established favorite and the applause he received was " rapturous" and at the sametime well deserved. After an interval of five minutes the curtain rose to "Trial by Jury" which althbugh not rendered so well perhaps as on former occasions passed off successfully.
