Mr Murray occupied the chair, and gave the opening address, which was of a very practical character. The next on the programme was Miss Smith, who sang " When there's love at home " very effectively. Mr Lloyd gave some of his diggings experiences bearing on strong drink. Miss Parr and Miss Towler gave a duet very nicely. Mr Purvis gave a recitation "Ben Bethel," in his usual good style. Miss Nellie Parr showed good power of memory in giving " The Publican's Net." Mr Worsfold kiudly, without previous notice, gave " My Mother's Bible" in such a way as to draw forth applause from the audience.
