Mangoane School Treat
A treat was given to the ohildren of the above named scheol on Friday, the 10th inst., when about sixty children sat down to tea, which was supplied by Mr Pollock to the order of the School Committee. After the children had finished, the tea tables were laid for the adults, who were present in such numbers that it was impossible for another to sit down, a great many having to wait until there was room. It is hardly necessary to say that full justice was done to the good things provided. After the tea there was an entertainment when songs were sung by Mrs and Miss Pleasants, Mrs Stewart, the Misses Ashworth and Foster, Messrs Williams, Stubley, Shepherd, Kelly, Armstrong, Pearce, and Master Owen Pleasants. Votes of thanks were proposed to the Ladies who presided at the tables, and to all who assisted in getting up the treat, which was the most successful ever held in the Mangoane Schoolroom.
