New Volunteer Regulations
(*EH fTNITED PRfSS ASSOCIATION.) Weclington, December 2. The new volunteer regulations are now undergoing a final revision, -and will probably be gazetted before the «nd of the year. It is understood that they have been considerably altered from the draft originally circulated amongst the various corps, and the -distinction^between garrison, country, and honorary companies is clone away with, and all corps placed on the same basis. The proposed diflerenoe between peace and war strength is also omitted, but the maximum and minimum for each company wiU be provided for, ami Par.iameaifc in each year a^ked to vote capitt&ou for a fixed number of x&zn in «ac& company between minimuui aud maximum strength. It is proposed that ilie establish :nent of a reserve force snould be abelished, aud also the compulsory retirement of officers after a certain length o service. These are the chief alterations made.'
