AWAHURI PLOUGHING MATCH.
to the kthtor op the star Sir, — If silence is wisdom, then tho Awahuri ploughing match committee is tho embodiment of discretion, or it has drunk so deeply of tho waters of Lethe that it cannot be aroused (through the vory portals of its honor be battered against) to refute tbe calumny wbich lies so much like truth that in the absence of contradiction, the people take it for truth itself, aud believe that the committee has had tbe surplus funds lying idle in its hands as private property to be used as suited its inclination without question and without being accountable. Will no honorable member of that committee eome forward and for bis credit's sake disabuse the public mind by showing that such misappropriation has not been made. — I am, &c, , Contributor. [This appeal ought to havo the required effect. — Ed. F.S.]
