Market for Butter
♦— ; Writing on the failure of New South Wales as a market fer New Zealand butter, the Post says a new outlet can be found in England. Some parcels of butter sent from Wellington last year, in kegs, in a cool chamber, arrived in prime condition and realised from 7d to 8d per lb clear. This price would pay the producers .handsomely. The shipping companies will not however, undertake to provide the necessary cool chamber unless a sufficient quantity is guaranteed. The quantity required to en sure the necessary accommodation would probably be some 30 or 40 tons. A little concerted action on the part of our dairy farmers would surely enable a guarantee of such a quantity to be given. The best, time for the latter to arrive in England would probably be about the middle or end of February. We commend the subto the earnest attention of our agricultural readers who are interested in the subject, and would urge tbem to take combined action to 'ipen up a profitable market in England for their produce.
