A COMPLAINT.
TO THE KDITOU OF>THK STAR. Sir, — It is in noeaptious spirit that I pen the following, us I hare nearly w» .great objection to the " grievance hunter" as most people have to a quarrelsome neighbor. For some time I hare heard deep and bitter complaints by peoplo of their gates, being opened at night,, and I hate thought it was often the outwwne after the annoyance of btving their cattle* impounded through periiapa a little carelessness. Cirenrastancesy that pl&ee mistake or accident out of thequetrtitm, hare proved to na* that, three times within the last w/eek my front gat* has been thrown open after midnight. Of course, I caut say who did it, but; no one can be hliud to the fact that under the present system it tends to the profit of the Poaud-keeper, and would be useless trouble for anyone* else. I mil simply add that my cows broke the fence one- night* and were very properly pounded, and on that and ail other occasion* in which the man did his duty I will uphold him ; but no one can protect himself against this insidious midnight work except by chains and padlocks, which would be rather embarrassing to the public who come for a doctor in the dark. — I am &0., X A. Moncktom.
