A Cottage Hospital
Our Palmerston neighbors have shown us a good example as regards the establishment of a Cottage Hospital. We observe by the Manawatu Times that the Borough Council has taken the matter m hand, and have appointed a committee to report. We hope the Feilding Council will do likewise. The proposed biiilding would not be any extra burden on the ratepayers, as it would be maintained from the funds already contributed for hospitals and charitable aid by the Manchester and Kiwitea Road Districts, and the Borough. The need of such a building is patent, and requires no urging from us. The number of accidents continually occurring in the bush seem to be in the increase in proportion with the quantity of land being cleared. One thing is now certain that no man who is injured seriously enough for the medical men to have the smallest doubts as to the safety or. otherwise of allowing the sufferer to be sent to Wanganui by train, will be allowed to leave the township. Consequently some place must be provided for his accommodation. As we never know when some poor shattered mortal may lie brought in, the sooner the necessary building is prepared the better.
