LATER PARTICULARS.

Auckland, November 6. The Magisterial inquiry into the charges againßt . Caffrey, Perm, aud Cleary (or Graham), in connection with the Great Barrier murder commenced at noon before H. Gk Seth Smith, Esq., E.M. After the opening speech of Mr Williamson, Grown prosecutor, the girl " Grace Graham," charged with being an accessory after the fact, was placed in the witness box. She gave an account of what transpired during the voyage «f the Sovereign of the Seas from Auckland to Great Barrier. Caffrev and Perm discussed the plans which were to carry off Mrs Seymour (Caff rey's former sweetheart), and if Taylor resisted they were to cut off his ears and tongue so that he should not tell who did it. The men landed early in the morning, and slept a short time on the beach before starting for Taylor's house. The girl says she saw them start, she being still on the cutter. Perm went first, as according to arrangements he was to go and ask for butter to put Taylor off his guard, while Caffrey got the girl. If Taylor or his sons offered resistance, weapons were to be used. At this stage Mr Napier, counsel for Peun and the girl, objected to the girl being further questioned until the charge of being an accessory after the fact . was withdrawn. The Bench dissallowed the objection, but cautioned the girl not to criminate herself. The adjournment for lunoheen fallowed. There was again a great -crowd inside and outside the Court. Later. The preliminary investigation into the Great Barrier Murder, with which Oaffrey and Perm are charged, began to-day. Owing to the crowd in the court the place bad to be cleared. Mr Boston, governor of the gaol made a statement to the Bench emphatically denying the alleged interviewing of Caffrey and Perm, who at the time of the publication of the statements had only seen their counsels. Sergeant Pratt, on behalf of the police authorities, made a similar assertion. The evidence of the girl Grace Graham, which occupied all day, was'idearly and unhesitatingly given. It w^s damaging to Caffrey, but tended to exculpate Perm of a share in the actual deed. She was discharged, the charge against her being withdrawn. -
